Perioperative gabapentin administration may help patients discontinue opioids post-surgery

Seventy-two hours of perioperative gabapentin use may promote opioid cessation after surgery and decrease the duration of postoperative opioid use although no significant difference was found in time to pain cessation. These findings from a single center study are published online December 13, 2017 in JAMA Surgery.
